Welcome! I am the bayou gypsy, born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Although I have spread my wings in the great cities of Austin, Seattle and Delray Beach, the bayou state kept calling me back home in 2007. Thank goodness for the pull back home because that is where I met and married my husband, Andrew.
We relocated to 7 acres in Zachary, LA and have started life on a farm. It's the land of bayous, fishing, hunting, four wheelers, trucks, nutria, deer, cows, three rescue pups named Abby James, Dixie and Gypsy, two rescue horses named Sparkle and Freedom, 20 chickens, 2 turkeys named Leroy & Luann and everything else southern.
I have started this personal blog to chronicle our new found farm life, the battles and blessings of our ongoing infertility, our recent adoption and the exciting adventures this bayou gypsy and her cowboy get into on the regular. I dabble in a little bit of everything and will share it all with you one wild ride at a time.
Come wander with me...y'all!

Each time I walk through a transitional time in my life, I feel the need to rid my home of the excess and the unnecessary. It seems to be a cleansing ritual for me and usually arrives on the heels of a difficult season. This year it came in the form of a paintbrush rather than […]
Between a New Orleans pit stop to enjoy some good music and the start of a major Spivey Paint Project, I decided to embark on a new cold dip recipe this past weekend that my friend and coworker passed along to me. I had a little bit of time to spare early Saturday morning […]
You’re probably wondering what in the world do these two things have in common. Well, my intimate musical experience this past Friday night brought the two together in such perfect harmony. I purchased tickets to see Kacey Musgraves at the Howlin’ Wolf months ago when her second album, Pageant Material, came out in June of […]
These are the days when I appreciate having a hunter for a husband. Fall, or what we consider fall, is right around the corner for us in South Louisiana. It’s the time of LSU football games and pumpkin spice lattes. During these months, I also usually yearn for a great stew, hearty soup or other comforting […]
