Welcome! I am the bayou gypsy, born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Although I have spread my wings in the great cities of Austin, Seattle and Delray Beach, the bayou state kept calling me back home in 2007. Thank goodness for the pull back home because that is where I met and married my husband, Andrew.
We relocated to 7 acres in Zachary, LA and have started life on a farm. It's the land of bayous, fishing, hunting, four wheelers, trucks, nutria, deer, cows, three rescue pups named Abby James, Dixie and Gypsy, two rescue horses named Sparkle and Freedom, 20 chickens, 2 turkeys named Leroy & Luann and everything else southern.
I have started this personal blog to chronicle our new found farm life, the battles and blessings of our ongoing infertility, our recent adoption and the exciting adventures this bayou gypsy and her cowboy get into on the regular. I dabble in a little bit of everything and will share it all with you one wild ride at a time.
Come wander with me...y'all!

On a recent girl’s night at the Baton Rouge location of Velvet Cactus (they originated in New Orleans), I finally decided to try this interesting side dish. Its main ingredient of watermelon is an unlikely combination with the […]
Since we’re in the midst of summer, I thought this would be a great time to share a portion of the bright beach decor from my parents’ Grand Isle camp and start my Sizzlin’ Summer Series. I hope to expand this series each year, incorporating not only decor but recipes, activities, maybe a little fashion. Sounds fun, right? I’m obviously feeling […]
Each year I enjoy whipping up a festive dessert for our neighborhood July 4th celebration. This year I made a Freedom Poke Cake. It’s a simple white cake mix that you poke holes in once it is cooled, pour Jell-O over entire cake and refrigerate. The cake and frosting with fresh fruit is very light and […]
Over the holiday weekend, my cowboy and I headed down to Grand Isle, LA to celebrate the birthday of America the Beautiful. As I’ve mentioned before, Grand Isle is a 7.8 mile barrier island at the mouth of Barataria Bay where it meets the Gulf of Mexico. Since my parents purchased their camp almost 3 […]
